Chinese Imperialsm And The Opium Wars

Opium was an addictive drug in the 1700s when europe went to china they traded opium knowing the chinese would get addicted and come back for more and would need opium from europe to give to the addicted people in china.Chinese officials were angered and did not want to trade with europe but were forced to and had imperialsm brought to them even though they wanted to remain isolation.Due to opium china had to open the "floodgates" to europe and trade for opium due to addiction.Europe did not want to see china isolated so they gave them no choice.
