The Treaty of Versailles (ended WW I)

The image “http://www.doglegs.net/cclovett/World%20War%20I.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. The Treaty Of Versailles was a very controversial action in many ways and also led to alot of different events in the future of europe and the world. The treaty came into existantce after WW1.Germany had lost and now were at the mercy of the allied countries which was not a good thing for everyone who was German. The Treaty composed of many different demands the allies held for the germans to complete because they had lost and the demands were severance pay for the war,but what the allies had not known was that Germany needed its money and assets to help rebuild their own country because they had also faced alot of damage, if not more than the allies because they had lost.Parts of the treaty included that Germany needed to pay alot of money in the millions of severance pay, also they had to give up their military power in case they ever tried to rise again.Another condition of the treaty was Germany needed to give land in other countries(like africa) to the allies. I feel that this treaty was unfair in many ways because Germany was in a bad position as it was and needed alot of effort, time, and money to pay up the damage of their homeland and they did not need to help build back other countries. After they paid back their dues Germany's economy was smashed and it was bound to enter the poor house. This gave birth to the age of Hitler's power.Germany had become so desparate for prosperity and new leadership that when Hitler came with his facist ideals,it would've sounded like salvation to the German people and they would have been easy to manipulate and follow in Hitler's footsteps. The problem was that by time the people saw Hitler was a killer and sadist it was too late and the people were afraid of him and the power he had accumalated.Maybe if the treaty was more lienient, World War 2 and the immoral holocaust may have been avoided.

Mustafa Kemal (Ataturk) and the Modernization of Turkey

Mustafa Kemal was a man who loved his country and wanted his people to be like the rest of the world and not to be seen as old world or behind on technology nd to find new traditions. He wanted his people to be more secular which means that people would be more interested to worldly items and not so connected to religon. He wanted his country to walk the road into becoming a superpower. He passed several lawsthat would make the process of modernizing and adapting to western culture eazier but the laws and rules may have been a little extreme. The rule banning the wearing of the fez hat seems meaningless but it was a deturant of dressing like that to the people and this definately had an affect onn the people of turkey and they knew that he wanted them to move foward. In the end Kemal was trying to help his people advance so they would not be left in the dust behind america and europe.
